Chess

I am a competitive chess player who enjoys faster time controls. Highlights
include leading in a game against GM Arjun Erigaisi (2801 FIDE, #3 in the world),
winning a game against GM Jaan Ehlvest (2660 FIDE, #6 in the world), and
winning three games against GM Ray Robson (2704 FIDE, #32 in the world).

I also participated in the 2021 and 2023 Lichess Summer Marathons (24 hours of 1|0), where I placed 255/24368 (top 1.0%) and 145/21270 (top 0.7%), respectively.

Sporcle

I am also a competitive Sporcle player and I really enjoy geography quizzes.
I first learned all the countries, capitals, and flags in the world in high school! 🙂

TypeRacer

I used to be a competitive typer (profile) on typeracer.com, breaking into the 140s
for typing speeds in words per minute (wpm) before I quit. I still enjoy typing fast!

Some of my typing inspirations at the time were Sean Wrona (the most successful competitive typist of the 2010s) and Jelani Nelson (once ranked the fastest typist in the world on typeracer.com, and later became a Harvard and now UC Berkeley professor).

Sports at Cal

I was fortunate to see both Jaylen Brown and Jared Goff play at Cal in my freshman year. Some of the highlights were witnessing Cal basketball complete a perfect 18-0 home record in the 2015-16 season, the Cal football team stuffing Utah on a goal-line stand in 2016, and Cal football sweeping a home-and-home with Texas in 2015 and 2016.
